Britannia Paints Zinc Phosphate Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer - 5 Litre

Britannia Paints Zinc Phosphate Metal Primer is an anti-corrosive primer for iron and steel. Its zinc phosphate content provides added corrosion protection, helping prepare correctly treated ferrous metal surfaces for a compatible topcoat.

Suitable for metal refurbishment and coating projects, it can also be applied over sound existing paintwork when correctly prepared, including use in conjunction with Britannia Polyshield 15. Britannia also specifies this primer for iron and steel within its Durashield roof waterproofing system.

Supplied in a 5 litre container with an off-white finish, it can be applied by brush, solvent-resistant roller or spray.

Application guidance: Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from corrosion, oil, grease and other contamination. Prepare steel mechanically or by abrasive blasting as appropriate, and sand sound existing paintwork before cleaning with a spirit wipe. Stir well, do not thin and apply at 5°C or above. Coverage is up to 13m² per litre.

Drying and overcoating: At 20°C, allow approximately 30 minutes to touch dry and six hours to through dry. The minimum overcoating time is two hours. Lower temperatures extend curing times. If left uncoated for more than 14 days, abrade and clean the primer before applying the topcoat.
