Britannia Paints Metal Etch Primer for Aluminium & Galvanised Steel - 5 Litre

Britannia Paints Metal Etch Primer prepares aluminium, copper and galvanised steel for a compatible coating. It helps improve adhesion on these difficult metal surfaces, providing a base for the next stage of your coating system.

This solvent-based, single-pack primer is ready to use and requires no component mixing. It can be applied by brush, solvent-resistant roller or spray, making it a practical choice for correctly prepared metal surfaces.

Britannia lists Metal Etch Primer within its Durashield roof waterproofing system for aluminium, copper and galvanised steel. Supplied in a 5 litre container with a white finish.

Application guidance: Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from corrosion, oil, grease and other contamination. Degrease and abrade the specified metals to remove the surface oxide layer, then clean with a spirit wipe. Stir well, do not thin and apply at 5°C or above. Typical coverage is 10–13m² per litre.

Drying and overcoating: At 20°C, the technical sheet gives approximately 20 minutes to touch dry and four hours to through dry, with an overcoating window of one to 16 hours. Lower temperatures extend curing times. Check the requirements of the intended topcoat before application.
