Britannia Paints Durashield Roof In A Box is a liquid roof waterproofing kit for flat roof refurbishment and overlay projects. It brings together grey Durashield coating, fast-drying primer, reinforcing scrim and application tools for a fully reinforced roofing system.

The cold-applied, rubber-based coating creates a flexible, seamless membrane without hot works. Britannia states a 10-year life expectancy when Durashield is installed as the fully built-up system, using primer, a scrim-reinforced basecoat and a finishing topcoat.

Suitable substrates include weathered asphalt and bituminous surfaces, concrete, brickwork, GRP, fibreglass, OSB, plywood, timber and fully adhered EPDM, subject to correct preparation and compatibility checks. The kit provides approximately 10–12m² of coverage, depending on the roof and detailing.

Kit contents: 20 litres of Grey Durashield, 5 litres of Durashield Fast Drying Primer, reinforcing scrim measuring 0.75m × 20m, a 15 litre scuttle, two pairs of nitrile gloves, three 12-inch solvent-resistant roller sleeves, a 12-inch roller frame and an extension pole.

Application guidance: Prepare a clean, dry surface and apply between 5°C and 30°C. Allow the primer to dry, embed the scrim into the wet basecoat, then apply the finishing coat to fully encapsulate the reinforcement. Full cure may take up to seven days, depending on conditions.

Suitability: Do not apply to damp or frozen surfaces, new bituminous coatings, new lead or Plastisol. Not suitable for tanking, fishponds or internal use. Test EPDM compatibility before application.
