Britannia Paints Durashield Liquid Rubber Waterproof Roof Coating

Britannia Paints Durashield is a liquid rubber waterproof roof coating for roof refurbishment and overlay work. Its flexible, highly elastic formula forms a smooth, seamless finish, providing waterproof protection for suitable existing roof surfaces.

Cold applied by brush or solvent-resistant roller, Durashield avoids the need for hot works. The ready-to-use, single-pack coating requires no component mixing and can be resealed after opening for later use.

Suitable substrates include felt, weathered asphalt and bituminous surfaces, concrete, brickwork, GRP, fibreglass and correctly prepared metal. It can also be used on fully adhered EPDM following compatibility checks, while timber, OSB and plywood require the fully reinforced system.

Choose Grey, Black or Solar Reflective White in 5 litre, 13.5 litre (15kg) and 20 litre containers. This product is the Durashield coating; primers and reinforcing scrim are purchased separately.

System choice: Britannia states life expectancies of 2–5 years for the single-coat system, 5–10 years for the primed system and 10+ years for the fully built-up system. These depend on the substrate, preparation and correct installation. Primer and reinforcement requirements vary by surface.

Application guidance: Apply to a clean, dry surface between 5°C and 30°C. Stir well and do not thin. Allow at least 1 litre per m² for the standard coating or 1.5 litres per m² across the fully reinforced system. Drying may take up to eight hours or overnight, with full cure taking up to seven days.

Suitability: Do not apply to damp or frozen surfaces, new bituminous coatings, new lead or slate. Not suitable for walkways, balconies, gutters, tanking, fishponds or internal use.
