Britannia Paints Durashield FD Fast Drying Roof Primer - 5 Litre

Britannia Paints Durashield FD Fast Drying Primer prepares suitable roof surfaces before applying the Durashield waterproofing system. This clear, solvent-based roof primer helps stabilise porous or friable substrates, providing a sound base for the coating.

Ideal for roof refurbishment projects, it is suitable for felt, weathered asphalt and bituminous surfaces, OSB, plywood, timber and EPDM, subject to the specified preparation and compatibility checks. Timber-based roof decks must be finished with the fully scrim-reinforced Durashield system.

The ready-to-use, single-pack formula can be applied by brush or solvent-resistant roller. Supplied in a 5 litre container, it dries in approximately 2–4 hours under normal conditions and must be completely dry before overcoating.

Application guidance: Clean and repair the surface, then allow it to dry. Stir well and do not thin. Apply between 5°C and 30°C, avoiding damp or frozen surfaces and hot direct sunlight. Typical coverage is 3–5m² per litre on porous substrates and timber, or approximately 10m² per litre on EPDM. Coverage and drying times depend on the substrate and conditions.

Suitability: This is a preparation primer and cannot be used as a topcoat. EPDM must be fully adhered and compatibility tested. Concrete, GRP, fibreglass, metals and other single-ply membranes require the appropriate alternative primer from Britannia’s system guide.
