Midland Lead Code 8 Roofing Lead Flashing is an extra heavy gauge cast lead sheet designed for the most demanding roofing and weatherproofing applications. Manufactured to BBA approved standards and produced using responsibly sourced recycled lead, it offers exceptional strength, stability, and long-term protection in highly exposed roof areas.

With a thickness of 3.55mm, Code 8 lead flashing is intended for situations where maximum durability and resistance to movement are required. Common applications include flat and pitched roofing, parapet gutters, box and tapered valley gutters, bay tops, canopies, and dormer details. Although heavier than lower lead codes, lead remains fully malleable, allowing accurate forming around complex roof features, while its natural weight helps prevent lifting or displacement in high wind conditions.

Naturally resistant to corrosion and capable of delivering a service life well beyond 100 years when correctly installed, Midland Lead Code 8 is widely used on long-term and heritage roofing projects. To reduce the risk of white staining caused by oxidation and to improve the finished appearance, patination oil should be applied during installation. This helps control surface oxidation while adding a subtle, even sheen to the lead as it weathers.

Fully recyclable and manufactured using recycled lead, Code 8 flashing is also a sustainable and environmentally responsible solution for heavy duty roofing applications.

What Is Machine Cast Lead?

Machine cast lead is produced by passing a rotating, water cooled drum through a bath of molten lead. As the drum turns, a consistent sheet of lead forms on its surface before naturally peeling away at the top.

The lead sheet is then wound into large spools and cut into rolls of specific sizes. This controlled manufacturing process ensures uniform thickness, dependable quality, and excellent performance for roofing and weatherproofing applications.
